Patria AMV-28A

Patria has announced that its AMV-28A eight-wheel drive armoured vehicle has completed testing and is ready for production.

The AMV-28A is an innovative development of the firm’s proven eight-wheel drive AMV vehicle family optimising the design to provide swim capability in sea state three conditions, with waves up to 0.5 metres/m to 1.25m (1.8 feet/ft to 4.1ft) and surf. Its unique modular buoyancy package allows the vehicle to execute an amphibious assault while having the essential ballistic and mine protection for extended land combat. This package can be installed or removed.

The vehicle can transport eight embarked soldiers and be equipped with a medium calibre weapon turret like the Kongsberg MCT-30.  Amphibious trials were completed in Hanko, Finland at the end of May confirming the sea performance. The AMV28A is the most recent example of a trend toward wheeled amphibious combat vehicles.
