Cubic Corporation announced that its subsidiary, ISR Systems, Inc., has acquired the assets of Shield Aviation, a provider of autonomous aircraft systems (AAS) for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) services.

ISR Systems will further expand Cubic Mission Solutions’ (CMS) portfolio of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions for secure and expeditionary communications and ISR processing, exploitation and dissemination.

“The acquisition of Shield Aviation’s unique medium-altitude autonomous aircraft solution expands our CMS offerings and strengthens our business in this area,” said Bradley H. Feldmann, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cubic Corporation. “As Cubic continues to grow our C4ISR business, Shield Aviation’s assets will provide more opportunities in higher growth and higher margin markets.”

This new business will provide Cubic’s customers with a rapidly deployable, medium AAS that offers unique mission enabling capabilities. Cubic already provides the data link as well as the command and control link for the Shield Aviation AAS.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Shield Aviation team to our Cubic family,” said Mike Twyman, president of Cubic Mission Solutions. “The addition of Shield Aviation’s assets aligns well with our current capabilities and its technologies will offer more opportunities for us to serve our customers in the defense industry.”

Cubic’s strengthened ISR services will provide a robust AAS ISR platform with a highly expeditionary footprint to satisfy the increasing demand for ISR.
