Fantom with new armament will be shown at IDEX 2017

Fantom-1

SFTE “SpetsTechnoExport”, which is a part of the SC “Ukroboronprom”, will present the new modification of unmanned tactical multipurpose vehicle “Fantom” at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference IDEX-2017.

The developers have integrated the anti-tank missile system “Barrier” into “Fantom”. With such armament, the nearly invisible and mobile “Fantom” is capable of striking heavy and light armoured targets at a distance of 100 to 5,000 meters. In addition, “Fantom” is equipped with a stabilized rotating platform for different types of armament. Fire tests of “Fantom” with the installed machine gun of 12.7 mm calibre confirmed the high efficiency of the new development.

Hybrid all-wheel drive engine together with independent suspension and hydraulic brake system provide “Fantom” with a high driving performance, including on the sand. Communication between the control centre and “Fantom” is provided by means of a secure radio channel with a range of up to 10 km or by fibre optic cable with a length of 5 km.

According to Pavlo Barbul, Director of “SpetsTechnoExport”, the updated version of the unmanned vehicle is the demonstration of only one of many variations of the “Fantom” completion: “The purpose of this project is development of equipment that can effectively perform different combat missions while minimizing risks to the military personnel’s lives”.

We remind that the first modification of “Fantom” was presented during the exhibition of armament “Arms and Security 2016” in Kyiv. Depending on the completion, “Fantom” can perform fire support of ground units, conduct reconnaissance and hold surveillanceon at block posts or border, deliver equipment and ammunition, evacuate the wounded, as well as be the source of power, participate in de-mining operations. In addition, “Fantom” can be used in conjunction with unmanned aerial systems, which also will be presented by “SpetsTechnoExport” at IDEX-2017.
