French Air Force to Receive Six Additional MQ-9 Reapers

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) has received a contract to provide the French Air force with five MQ-9 Block 5 unmanned aerial vehicles.

The contract, valued at just over $79 million, has a completion date of 29 March, 2024 and has been arranged through the Foreign Military Sales process and will proceed through the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Centre, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

On 29 May, 2019 BAE Systems received a $39 million FMS contract to supply France with its sensor pods which will be used on France’s MQ-9 Block 5 aircraft and Block 30 Mobile Ground Control Stations. These will be delivered by 30 April 2023.

On 23 June, 2013, France made a request for the possible sale of 16 MQ-9 Reapers and eight mobile ground stations. The sales package was to include: 40 General Atomics Lynx (exportable) Synthetic Aperture Radar/Ground Moving Target Indicator (SAR/GMTI) systems and 40 AN/DAS-1 Multi-Spectral Targeting Systems (MTS)-B.
