Exail, a global leader in naval navigation, has been chosen by Naval Group to enhance the French Navy’s Ocean Patrol Vessels (OPVs) navigation capabilities as part of the French Directorate General of Armament (DGA) Ocean Patrol Vessel program aimed at the renewal of the high seas patrol vessels based in Brest and Toulon, and the public service patrol vessels based in Cherbourg.
Under this collaboration, Exail will supply a comprehensive suite of navigation hardware, including Phins Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and Netans Data Distribution Units (DDU).
Offering highly precise navigation data resilient to signal disturbances, the Phins INS will enhance the OPVs’ operational capabilities, improving navigational accuracy and situational awareness in diverse maritime conditions. Leveraging Exail’s Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology, Phins guarantees durability while minimizing maintenance needs, providing a reliable solution for coastal surveillance missions. Serving as the cornerstone of the navigation system, the Netans system will ensure the OPVs receive consistent, reliable, and precise navigation data, while adhering to safety and security standards and addressing potential cybersecurity risks.
“We are honored to have been selected by Naval Group. This contract reinforces our long-standing partnership,” said Pierre-Louis Roudaut, Regional Sales Manager at Exail. “Through this collaboration, we are fulfilling our commitment to simplify the lives of sailors by offering a thoughtfully designed system that precisely addresses their needs for reliability and performance.”
Having already equipped over 70% of the French Navy’s fleet, this latest contract further solidifies Exail’s position in the French market, complementing existing programs such as Flotlog, the FDI first rank frigates, and the BSAOM overseas support and assistance vessels.
