Lincad, the British manufacturer of bespoke batteries, chargers and power management systems for military applications, is pleased to announce that it has won a further contract with Leonardo to supply batteries and other power management equipment for the Type 163 Laser Target Designator system.

The battle proven Type 163 Laser Target Designator has been designed specifically to meet all of today’s special and conventional force JTACs and JFOs mission requirements for marking and terminally controlling Semi Active Air to Ground weapons accurately onto the target at ranges up to 10km.

Lincad’s Joint Managing Director, Peter Slade, commented:

We have worked with Leonardo and its predecessors over a number of years and they are a highly valued customer. It’s a great demonstration of how the experience and expertise of an SME like Lincad can be employed to support the requirements of the global defence primes.”

A Leonardo spokesperson said:

“Ensuring we have the right support in our supply chain is absolutely critical for us and we had no hesitation in placing further orders with Lincad. The team there had already proved their technical expertise and commercial reliability through their contribution to our Type 163 Laser Target Designator and Laser Inertial Artillery Pointing System (LINAPS) programmes.”
